Before you take your kids here for ANY services you should check out WJLA News Channel 7's latest reports on the Small Smiles clinics! I would not take my small children ANYWHERE where I as the parent could not be present during ALL of the treatment and I certainly would not allow any doctor or dentist to use a papoose board to restrain my children!

Check out the links on WJLA's site for some of the most HORRIFIC, ABUSIVE, and COMPLETELY ENRAGING video of Small Smiles employees and dentists performing "routine procedures" on children!

First I would like to say that not all dental practices are this way. I am a parent who just so happens to work in a dental office and sometimes it is necessary to restrain a child if nothing else for their own safety. If a child is reaching for the doctors hand as he is drilling or trying to give the shot, that is not safe. But there is a right and a wrong way and they clearly are not doing it the right way. I checked out the link advised by the previous comment.

Another problem: the dentist there, Dr. Miller, decided to change the treatment that had been prescribed by the previous dentist without talking to me, the parent. When I challenged him, Dr. Miller told me he had the authority to change treatment plans, and he didn't need my permission. I called to complain to the corporate office and they did not return my call.

This seems not only unethical, but likely illegal. But does a parent want to go to court over a dental visit? Of course not. It is a sad thing that Medicaid parents are treated with such fundamental disrespect.
