Full details about GentleMouse 2.0

GentleMouse is a revolutionary, patent-pending assistive technology solution that eliminates the need to click the mouse.  GentleMouse is a software application that translates cursor movements into mouse actions, providing an easy and gentle way to perform mouse actions without manually pressing buttons or scrolling.

GentleMouse is ideal for users with musculoskeletal injuries and disabilities who are either unable to click the mouse, or find clicking painful. It is also a tool to help prevent injury.  Pain caused by repetitive clicking of the mouse is a widespread complaint among PC users and has been associated with many musculoskeletal and repetitive strain injuries, especially Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. By eliminating or reducing clicking, GentleMouse may help prevent clicking-related injuries.  In addition, by removing the need to click, users can loosen their grip on the mouse, which may help reduce the overall strain associated with mouse use.

GentleMouse is compatible with most pointing devices such as ergonomic or standard computer mice, trackballs, and touch pads as well as head-tracking devices. With GentleMouse, if you can move your cursor, you can click!

How it works: whenever you pause the cursor, GentleMouse remembers where you paused and briefly displays a small, transparent window called a Trigger Window close to the cursor. To click, simply move and pause the cursor over the Trigger Window and GentleMouse performs the click for you. There are secondary Trigger Windows corresponding to right-click, double-click, and middle-click that become visible when you move through the first Trigger Window.

The software is highly customizable. You can choose the number of Trigger Windows to use and  then customize each window with a mouse or keyboard action.  Many common commands such as cut, copy, paste, enter, etc., can be performed just by moving over the corresponding customized Trigger Window.   The window size,  transparency, background image and more can also be changed.   In addition, an adjustable Hover Zone allows users to define sensitivity to cursor movement, so people with shaking hands or tremors can easily use GentleMouse.

GentleMouse is also the first auto-click software solution that is not based on dwell clicking. What’s the difference?   Dwell clicking-based software programs perform a click whenever the cursor is paused for a pre-defined time span. This can cause unintended clicks.  GentleMouse gives you much more control over where and when to click: if you don’t want to click where you paused, just ignore the Trigger Windows and they will disappear until you pause again.

Gentle Computing is pleased to offer any AT Showcase participant a 25% discount off the standard retail price of $39.95. A digital promotional coupon will be provided and the software can be purchased at www.gentlemouse.com. We will also accept cash or check at the event.

If you are unable to attend the showcase in person and will be participating via teleconference, please visit www.gentlemouse.com and watch the video tutorial to view the software in action while listening to the teleconference. You may also download a free 14-day trial of GentleMouse.

> RETURN OF LIVE MUSIC?

> MtP BIKE LANES
> One critical issue that the ANC faces right now are proposed Bike Lanes on
> Park Road leading to Rock Creek Park and the existing Bike Trail. Despite
> being a means of calming traffic through a residential corridor where
> motorists often speed, the lanes are facing opposition from some community
> leaders.
>
> Bicyclists showed up in force at this month's ANC 1D meeting to express
> their strong support for better bicycling for Mt. Pleasant residents. The
> ANC defeated a resolution that would have incorporated proposed bike lanes
> on a segment of Park Road in an overall traffic calming application and
> would have delayed their installation. The ANC had received over 30
> e-mails
> and numerous phone calls in support of the proposed lanes.
>
> WABA's position was that the bike lanes had been called for in the DC
> Bicycle Master Plan, completed in April of 2005, which was well before
> traffic calming on Park Road was raised as an issue. Bike lanes are also
> not recognized by the District Department of Transportation as traffic

> extend the existing bike lanes on 14th Street further south to Park Road.

> Secondly, the DDOT will soon begin a public involvement process on the

> MtP LIBRARY EXTERIOR RESTORATION
> The DC Office of Contracting and Procurement on behalf of the DC Public

SUPPORT THE NEW EURASIA SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Many students cannot afford to continue their education in universities in Russia, Ukraine and other parts of Eastern Europe. The Eurasia Center has a program to help talented, underprivileged scholars who want to learn but lack funds. In 2005 the chair of Eurasia Center's Education Program, James Schneider, created such a scholarship for the East Ukrainian National University in Lugansk, Ukraine. He created a writing competition by working with one of the top professors at the University to select a topic on international affairs for students to write about. The winners of the competition used the prize money to further their education at the University. 46 students submitted papers for the competition and three scholars were chosen as winners and awarded various amounts of scholarship stipends.

This Eurasia Center scholarship program was a citizen-to-citizen based initiative. It also involved institutes of higher learning which are finding it more difficult to help their brightest scholars in need support themselves through their programs of study.  Please support our Eurasia Center Scholarship Fund to make a world of difference!

WORLD RUSSIAN FORUM in May 2007
The Eurasia Center will organize the WORLD RUSSIAN FORUM
The WORLD RUSSIAN FORUM is to be held in the U.S. Congress in May 2007. Since 1991, The World Russian Forum has become the premier catalyst for open discussions and relationship building between Russia, America, and opinion makers of other European and Asian nations.  Participants in the 2006 World Russian Forum were able to speak with members of the US Senate and House of Representatives along with officials of numerous American governmental agencies including the Departments of Commerce, State, Homeland Security, Defense, and International Trade. Other beneficial relationships were initiated with American, Russian, and Eurasian leaders representing investment, banking, high technology, energy production, economic development, and NGO organizations.

Conference attendees to the Forum were key Russian leaders of: the National Duma; Office of His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President, the Russian Federation; Regional governors and their staffs; leaders in the energy, high technology, medical, and science research sectors; bankers; managers of natural resources processing and manufacturing concerns; representatives of Non-Governmental  Organizations (NGOs) working on the issues of democracy, transparent governance, and humanitarian development; along with reporters from major U.S. and Russian media outlets.
