Please join the Fenty Transition Team Homelessness Working Group

Please forward far and wide!

Homelessness Working Group input needed:

Do you want to have a say in how the next administration battles
homelessness in Washington, DC?

You can!

Please join the Fenty Transition Team Homelessness Working Group

for our on-line working group chats on December 5, 6 and 7, each
between 1:00 and 2:00 pm

See topics for discussion and how to sign up below.

In addition, the Fenty Transition Team Homelessness Working Group

is holding a public meeting on Saturday, December 9th and they need input.

If you are homeless and want to let Mayor-Elect Fenty know how the
District Government can help you, come to One Judiciary Square, 441
4th Street NW from 9am to 1pm.

Food and Day Care will be provided.

The Homelessness Working Group has scheduled on-line chats for
December 5, 6 and 7, each between 1:00 and 2:00 pm.

Attached is a flyer about a public meeting. We would like you to
encourage people who are homeless and who are formerly homeless who
may not have access to computers to come to the public meeting.
Please post and circulate this information to the community.

The information gathered will inform the Human Services Transition
Team as they develop a plan for Mayor-elect Fenty.

On line chat topics:

December 5, What are the challenges that adults who are homeless face
in accessing services? What are the solutions?

December 6, What are the challenges that families face who are
homeless? What are the solutions?

December 7, What are the challenges for children and youth who are
homeless? What are the solutions?

A day before the chat, we suggest you give signing on a dry run. Some
folks find that they need to install Java (easy and safe) it is
better to do this in advance of the chat. To see if you need to add
software, go to:
http://host7.parachat.com/hosted/index.html?site=8331&room=Human_Services_Chat&width=600&height=400.
Sign in with your initials and Java will run if you have it. If not,
go to http://www.java.com/en/ to install it. Then try signing in to
the chat room again.

At the time of the real chat, go to
http://host7.parachat.com/hosted/index.html?site=8331&room=Human_Services_Chat&width=600&height=400
once again. At this time, you can use your initials or name that is
entirely up to you. Please note that during the chat, you can only
type in about 2 lines before it cuts you off. So keep your sentences
short and just type lots of them!

RSVPs are not necessary, but if you plan to attend the public hearing,
please let me or David know so we can get a sense of the need for day
care and the need for food.

To RSVP for the chat, please contact David Pirtle at
anthonydavidpirtle@yahoo.com. If you have questions about the chats
and the public hearing please contact me or David. Thanks.
